The Hobart Synagogue Digital Archive was created over the COVID lockdown in 2020. It contains over 1700 digitised records spanning 1828 to the present, telling the story of Hobart Judaism. The session will give a high level overview of how the archive was created, which will hopefully inspire others to share their community's history. I will dive into some of the more interesting themes of Hobart Jewry, including our almost ever present struggle to maintain the community. There will also be some highlights featuring special events throughout our history, and provocative lowlights such as when non-British subjects were banned from joining the congregation.
