Masks and morality: the ethics of Covid

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Feedback form is now closed.

In this session, we will explore some of the central issues of "Pandethics" in our time. Should mask wearing and vaccinations be compulsory or voluntary? Should governments legally enforce such measures? Should we scold others (neighbours and strangers) if we see they are not wearing a mask? Do we in fact have a social responsibility to do so, or is it "none of our business"? What is the larger relationship between individual freedom and the public good? Should individuals have the right to opt out of receiving a Covid vaccine? Or should there be a one size fits all policy, regardless of whether or not you agree with the rules? On a deeper level, what is the place of individual liberty in a democratic society? We will analyse these issues from both a Jewish and general philosophical point of view. Bring your opinions and we'll search for the truth together.
